John Holmes
John Holmes is Emeritus Professor of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University and an Academic Partner with the Automotive Policy Research Centre. He received his B.Sc. and M.A. from the University of Sheffield in the U.K. and his Ph.D. in 1974 from The Ohio State University. In 2014, he received the Distinguished Academic Award from the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT). The North American automotive industry has been the primary focus of his research for well over thirty years and he has published extensively on various aspects of the political economy of the industry. His current research investigates (a) the dynamics of competitiveness and innovation in the Canadian automotive parts industry, and, (b) the potential impact of new and revised trade agreements on automotive production and trade within North America.
